Hi Kristen. Thought you may be interested in some 1970's climbing history at The City...Canadians Murrat Toft, Rusty Baillie, Steve Stahl and Stu Slymon explored the area and climbed many FA"s throughout the 70's & early 80's......Good luck with your documentations....Sounds like an exciting project...

I used to have Mike Forcash's contact info but not anymore. He lives in Southern California/greater LA metro area last I knew.

Edit: oops, might be the wrong Forcash/Forkash.....

You should add Stan Caldwell to the list. He's in Pocatello I believe. Also Jay ??? who put up many of the routes on the decadent wall.

Punk rocker Jay Goodwin.

I'm sure you've contacted RKM. He knows a gob of the old crew from back in the day. Hack is someone that would be fun to chat with. Some of those O town boys are still kickin'.

Dick D, who posts here as Yeti, has a fair amount of old history. So does Reid Dowdle. Both still in Idaho I think.

I will be looking for others to tell their stories from City and Castles to give the history some color. So be thinking about your experiences at City and Castles; the first time, the best time, the worst time, etc....

I am looking forward to this project and am interested in creating a history with multiple points of view that will serve the climbing community.

I remember a great John Barstow poster of Karen Madigan on the Dolphin at the City. Nice shot. Ran into Karen a few weeks back. I think she's in the Salt Lake/Summit Park area still. Queen of the Wasatch! Ha ha.

You got most of the wives/ex-wives covered. Aimee Barnes might be another for your list. Edit: you got her.

Hannah's probably the most involved in the City of any woman I'm aware of. From a variety of aspects (new routes, history, access).

Hmmm...Brad should know a few more...

Tryin' to think who was around during the sports boom...Maybe a few of the Ketchum and/or Jackson crew. Certainly the Pocatello folks. Ask Kevin Pogue!

Pokey Amory?

I thought I would update everyone on the project.
I have interviewed Dave Bingham and Duane Ackerman (many routes at Castles) and have responses from Maura Longdon, Carol Kochek, Hannah North, Jay Goodwin, and several others who will be at the City this summer.

Thank you for your helpful and speedy responses and welcoming attitudes.

Happy Climbing
