I just got back from the Copeland funeral with the Z4 overloaded with Kyle's rack. (His wish and that of his parents as well)

Some of the stuff will obviously go to museums, and some the trash heap, but there is plenty that can fall into median groups.

I plan to auction a large pile with the proceeds going to Layton Kor. Kyle would have liked that.
Some of the aid gear I might give to young aspirants with big plans.
Some still may yet prove useful to me (baby angles??)

But perhaps some of the cams or perhaps other items might serve in the same function, that is,get to use the great KC's gear on a climb.

Any thoughts?
Perhaps locating the gear somewhere in Moab waiting for visitors?

Just the Copeland family looking for an update on how much money has been raised with my brothers equipment and belongings ?sale for Layton Kor and if the promise that some of his equipment going to the Colorado climbing museum has been fulfilled...Shellon and Kandel

Shellon, I bought a few of Kyle's old pitons a year or more back, from Ron. I knew Kyle from his later Moab years, stayed at his house a few times. He is missed.

Kyle evidently painted his pitons blue. Ever since buying this small batch, whenever I need pins I make sure to rack up one or two of Kyle's. Last spring, used a few on a second ascent, after 25 years, of one of Kyle's own last unrepeated towers: Last Arrow Spire. Made me smile, bringing those old pitons up Kyle's proud tower first ascent. I can imagine Kyle, too, would be smiling at seeing them put to use again in his old stomping ground.

Not sure if you heard, but sadly Layton Kor passed away a year ago, after years of battling with his kidney failure and an exhausting dialysis regime, three times a week. With the support of his many friends and his own indomitable bravery and humor he actually managed to get out climbing until just a few months from the end. I visited a few times over his last years. He always spoke fondly, and with great respect, of your brother. They were kindred spirits, adventurous, modest, tall in stature, low in profile. Legends, and rightly so.

Toward the end, and after, Layton's expenses were high and complex. There was a fund set up toward the expense that still pursued Karen and Arlan:

which raised several thousand dollars. This on top of many other efforts by friends, including Ron, who made a point of visiting when he could.

If you would like, I can pick out the blue pins and send them your way.

All the Best,

Crusher
