hey there say, all...

getting off line, had a hard night just a bit ago, with the printer...
it will print pictures...
but it WILL NOT print any words that i typed in any programs, word, etc, or tex-doc...

it always did before tonight :(
so i had to copy and paste it into PAINT, and then, trying to enlarge it,
made it fuzzy, but it DID print...

looked up stuff on line, about when computer prints BLANK pages...
did not help...

i am low on blue ink, but it did not give me 'note to change it'
it is an epson printer... with all three colors and one black cartridge,
containers...

thank you for any help... will be back tomorrow...
thanks folks...

9 out of 10 times it's the cartridge or head. Most Epson drivers have the ability to clean/align/check the nozzles.

Take all of the cartridges out and run a 90% isopropyl alcohol swab quickly over the ink port on the cartridge. It can make a mess... Reseat the cartridge. Run the alignment/clean tools from your PC.

Lastly, simply replace the black cartridge.

It is unclear what you are trying to print, if it is a web page use the "PrtScn" (print screen" button on your keyboard (upper right area of the keyboard) to copy the current screen to the clipboard. Open your graphics program and paste your image in, then edit what part you want to save/print.

Sounds like you have issues with the driver, possibly the PCL (printer control language) that you are using.

Try updating and/or changing your printer drivers, you can get them from the manufacturers website.

hey there say, thanks... guys...

yep, i need to explain better...

i had typed a small card verse, in MICROSOFT WORD on the computer here...
went to print it out and it
PRINTED BLANK...

(now, blue in is low, but did not give me the option to
to put the new one in, as, it did not say empty, so would not
'shove' the container-holder out, for me to change it)...
it is EPSON NX400, and has separate cartridges for color, and one
also for black)

black in, and the other colors, still showed halfway markers,
of color...

so, i tried to 'copy and paste' and PUT the verse in the
desktop choice of 'text doc' and tried to print it there...

STILL BLANK...

WELL--it printed a picture, the day before, so,
i went to the 'PAINT' optioin, and i was able to print
a 'photo' ...

then, i copy and pasted, the WORDS FROM THE VERSE and put them
in the 'paint' program, and it DID PRINT THE WORDS OUT , as
a 'paint' printout (they have the option to print words, in the
window-that-you-choose-to-add-words to your picture... )

today, i have not tried it yet, but most likely, unless something
'refixed itself' it won't work...

so, i do not and can not, find out WHY it will not print
what i needed to do, in the first place...

say, supafly:
it does sound like it is NOT reading something, or
did not even GET THE MESSAGE that i had something to print,
in the micro.soft.word...

any more ideas?
thanks guys...

i will re read what is here so far, and see if i understand what i can
try to do...

i may just need to take the computer in, as, it has been slow on line, even though it is faster dial up now... but i still suspect it is on the pages of 'too many animated adds' that MAKES it slow...

edit:
oh, say, jon:
i have recently learned to do that, and it works, good,
thank you so much, for sharing...
recently, it printed for me too, but this time,
i was just trying to print a
verse, that i had typed out,
here,
on my own computer...

Do you have a program that copies and prints text? Something like Page Maker or something that says OCR that maybe got turned off by mistake?

Sounds like your black ink is not working, empty or bad nozzles (clogged)

Neebee, we have an Epson printer at Tioga Pass Resort. Yuck! They are one of the most user unfriendly printers I have ever used and their cartridges cost too much.

If you have the opportunity try and get an HP. Had them for years and love them. Sorry I can't help. Two of us were the trouble shooters for TPR Epson and we were sorely taxed.

Lets say a prayer for you.

Also, sometimes you accidentally push/touch something that causes a problem.

You should be able to put in a new printer ink cartridge at any time.

Cheers, L.

If you printed a picture last with no probs then I think some setting got changed although I can't think what it could be. If you have an Epson icon on your desktop try double cli king it and see if there is a Troubleshoot option or a Print a Test Page option. If there isn't an icon then you need to go into Programs and find the Epson file which should have that stuff.

When you are in Word or Windows Notepad and you click on Print be sure there is only the one printer selected.

Hope this helps

turn off the printer

unplug it from the power outlet

hold the on button for 10 sec

plug back into the wall socket

turn it back on and try to print

The last three suggestions are all good. I had a boss once who used to make the sign of the cross over the photocopy machine when it didn't work and often it did after that. If not, whack it one, then unplug and replug it. Then look for the Epsom icon and go through that. You can test print with it and get suggestions and it will clean the nozzles for you.

Neebs . . . did you save your word document to a file before attempting to print it? If not, try creating a file for the doc and save it, close the Microsoft Word, open the file and try printing it again. Just a thought.
Best of wishes to you . . . HP printers are pretty good as Lynne advised.

hey there say, all...

this is still happening... :( i got it to print pics...
i got to print a few words in dark blue...

so i just let it alone, and didn't know what to do...

though i did print some pics...
as it is a waste to have this ink in it...

well, i got more ink in it...

it has just run out of yellow, and but JUST BEFORE it did...
it would still NOT print any words, at all

not off line,
not in text...
not in doc...

not at all... :(

please, if anyone can help, i am trying to pursue this again...
however, i just realized how much it hurts my brain to try and figure this
out when nothing makes sense...

so, i will be back later...

and going to do some painting, etc...
that makes my brain happy, :))

wow, A WHOLE year AND nearly 2 months later, and still
can't help on this... oh my...

I have an epson printer, which I've found to be quite good. I've been through a bunch of others.

I had this EXACT problem occur to me, and it was after I'd not used it for a prolonged time. As Fear mentioned, I cleaned the outlet with alcohol, ran the "clean" program, and it worked fine. You had not noted that you'd taken his advice.

However, a lot of time has gone by, and you might be best served by getting new cartridges. They are pretty cheap, if you buy refilled generic.

BTW the way I got to what I did, was to look at the online manual for the printer, and following the advice in the Troubleshooting section, as someone else mentioned.

hey there say, ken m... say, i will email you and ask who you did it...

it seems to me, every time i try to look at it , it only opens to
change the ink, and then, whewwwwwwwwwwww, it 'swooshes' back so fast, i can't look at anything...

but--on a fast try, i 'thought???' i saw old black ink, on a spot, but not sure... will email you, in a few hours, though, i am right in the middle of something... i just dropped in to check...

edit: i am sorting out DRY catnip, and can't leave it alone...
cats, you know...
will have a terrible mess, if i leave it now... will email you later...

also, say, wow, cosmic... my printer sure is lucky... the worst it came to, is:

felt like covering up in the closet, under TONS of blankets, and pretending like it was never here, :)) oh my...

but, well, here IT is... :)

will give another whirl, :)
