From the article:
The free version of the Muir Wall follows the "Shaft" variation established by Scott Cosgrove and Kurt Smith during their 1994 attempt to free the wall. Those two came up just a few feet short of the completely free ascent...
Ahead of their time, and treated like criminals.

Still, he couldn't beat McEnroe.
For those enquiring minds out there, yes I did beat him. One-on-one basketball, Santa Monica Athletic Club. Sorry no video.
Neither of us consumed the dread (Overthe)Cliff bars.
Can you answer? Yes I can,
but what would be the answer to the answer man?

When Honnold eventually climbs the first 5.99 and "pitches" a fit, will he be penalized and his route reduced to 4.87?

Need to bump this above the Zsa Zsa thread.
Alex's climbing achievements are beyond the believable. El Cap, his backyard crag...
And respect to his partner Josh McCoy. Tying in with a life force like Alex probably qualifies as real adventure.

Outrageous.
When I first started climbing there was a fictional, futureistic story in either Climbing or Mountain about climbers climbing 5.15 and resting of 5.12 holds to shake out. The future is now.
