Thanks snarky!

According to the Youtube comments, this movie is based on a real operation in the Siachen in the late '80's.

Seems very realistic to me?$@*. Its nice to see the climbers in this movie practicing safe belay techniques.

I also never go climbing with the protection of my AK-47.

had I seen climbing and AK-47's portrayed in this fashion in high school, my life would have taken a decidedly different course

pure unadulterated awesome.

only way it could have been better would have been if, as the thread title had me hoping, they had broken out into song and dance...

Thanks for posting this. I've known about the war on the Siachen glacier for some time, but I'd never heard of this incident. I will try to buy the full movie the next time I go to Nepal.

Best climbing film ever.

Edit

Okay. I lied. It's only the second best climbing scene ever put on film. The real #1 is the climbing scene in "The Guns of Navarone"

Having the awesome gift of premonition and foresight only equaled by the average 6-year-old, I give you the original:

This thread is now dedicated to the memory of that Kiwi dude, who I suspect only started his thread to get on "the list" in the first place. Well played, sir.

I love it! Definitely beats Vertical Limit (don't let therealwesleysummers know I said that). Gonna have to find it subtitled and have a movie night sometime soon.

Love Bollywood. That is the most amazing fake wall I've ever seen. It must have cost a fortune to build. Even more amazing is that the people who designed and built it had no clue about geology. Also the climbing is just plain bad too. Classic.
