Just bought a perfect condition A5 Alpine Double ledge, with fly. Any mods you guys can suggest?

Anyone have suggestions on adjusting the thing when I'm actually in it??? Those plastic ladder locks are impossible to adjust when weighted.

Cut big holes into the bed.

Cut holes into the fly.

Drill a million holes into the tubes.

Your ledge will now be lighter.

But !!!! Your ledge will now only work on clear summer days ......

Tip:
It helps to start with all the straps fully extended.
Much easier to tighten down than try to control releasing the straps.

The best analogy would be with action involved in tuning a guitar..
The guitar will stay in tune much longer when you tighten the strings UP to proper tuning, rather than slacken the strings DOWN to proper tuning..
Make sense??
Hope that helps!

Also if you don't have the expedition rainfly, I would recommend a tentpole to help keep the fly more rigid and stable in heavy rain.
My partner drilled holes in the two corner knuckles adjacent to the wall.
Each end of the tentpole is inserted into the hole creating a semicircular bow which keeps the fly away from the ledge..

Hope that makes sense.

Anyone know the length of the tent pole used on the A5 ledge? My fly doesn't have any type of attachment point or guide for the pole, any suggestions?

I added some thin rubber soling material to the "wall side" of my ledge. I noticed that it rocks back and forth less when I am on it, and doesn't make me worry about the rock destroying that part.

How did you glue the rubber to the material? Just Barge??? I like that Idea a lot, the one time I was on a ledge before I damn near sh#t my pants every time the lidge shifted slightly. Need to "practice" sleeping on this thing.

I bet Barge will work. I used some Renia Colle de Collogne and glued Topy soling material to it. I rounded and beveled all the edges. I have access to all that stuff at my work though. I have only used my ledge once since then, but was happy with the outcome so far.

I've had two large mesh pockets sewn on each side of the center divider (Old E sized) on my Metolius ledge. Perfect for organizing and holding whatever.

Yeah, and make sure when you are with somebody else your ledge is higher.

The big wall golden shower. That's why they invented the 'fly'...

I'm pretty sure they invented big wall climbing for the golden showers. . .

When I'm putting the fly on it will only fit over the ledge if I have the straps pulled at least half way up, if I have it any looser the fly won't even reach the ledge, I'm thinking that I should at least mark the adjustment straps so that I know that if they are lower then I won't be able to quickly put the fly on.
