Thanks prrrdylady, that response was highly illuminating: no thought and zero imagination.

Maybe I don't "get" American humor. Did it ever occur to anyone that the reverse might be possible?

I like your photos from kiwi land Avery so here is a bone to chew on and a good list to start your research.
Let us know when you have us figured out.

We are a diverse bunch so Google, Don Rickles, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Ellen DeGeneres, Robin Williams, Bill Hicks, Sarah Silverman, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinison, Steven Wright, Dave Chappelle, Louis CK....

If that doesn't answer your question check out this show from Jerry Seinfeld interviewing some solid comedians.

there are 4.4 million new zealanders..

America has suburbs bigger then that.

there is no such thing as a single American sense of humor.

its a melting pot.

I think I know the problem. Kiwi humor (and Kiwi porn) contain A LOT of sheep. American humor (and porn), hardly any sheep. Must be a shock culturally.

Avery, ever hear of Arkansas? If yer American you'd be laughing by now.
But Arkansas is famous for something huge - the toothbrush! You see,
if it had been invented in any other state it would be called the teethbrush.

Look up Marc Maron, he's the funniest comedian around, also Hannibal Buress, Nathan Fielder, H. Jon Benjamin, Anthony Jeselnik, Maria Bamford, Tig Notaro, Bill Burr, Jim Gaffigan.

Go, now, quit looking at all of the stupid replies to this thread, close Supertopo. now.

Hmmm. Imagine a scene when someone farts and two other people in the room start to awkwardly giggle. That sums it up well.

I've got some American humor for you, and it's even about rocks.

@Avery -
As a Kiwi, this should prove a most entertaining exercise.

You got Jefferies.... We got a jackass named Larry the Cable Guy...

Sadly, I think one of these comedians hit closer to reality than the other.....
For humanity, larry is holding us back, wading in the muck, while on the other side of the globe comedy is evolving to newer, better forms....
