Sorry for the climbing-related question...

Where's best these days to send a whole bunch of old Camalots for reslinging in the original colors (and good 'ol Nylon).

Send them to BD. The turn around is quick and they do an excellent job.

Need to do this as well. Will they do other cams as well?

Some places won't do older units.
Some only use dyneema.
Just a FYI.

I sent mine to Fish.

When I did mine a while ago the best price I found was from Yates and they were helpful and quick. They won't do super old stuff but my gear definitely looked well worn and they didn't ask any questions.

They have dyneema and nylon. I got my BD C4s done with dyneema and people still give me crap but I like it.

Not only did BD in SLC re-sling my cams in the original colors, materials and dimensions, they called me to let me know the cams passed the detailed inspection I had asked them to do...for free!!!
Kudos to BD customer service!!

Well that's fine for BD cams, but for those of us who have been climbing for a long time we tend to have a pretty large collection.

Closer to home, Ragged will (or used to) sling with nylon.

Get some 3/4" tubular webbing and sling Dragon Cam style, so it's possible to extend the webbing if needed. No need to pay someone to do something that you can do your self. Also in an emergency you can untie the sling and use it as a bail anchor. Just My Two Cents. DanK

That's probably OK for the second generation Camalots with the metal eye. But, it's bad advice for the Camalots with the plasticized wire loop

"And for those wondering, yes, we also experimented with the extendable sling design and found that when the sling is extended the cams not only failed at lower loads, but the thumb loop was damaged more easily."
