Do I need crampons/ice axe for the couloir between abbot and mills? Book says they are needed even in low snow years, how about vary low snow years? thanks!!!

Have not been there this year, but the gully has snow in it almost every year. The snow gets pretty hard by late July.
Bring both crampons and a light ice axe. It will not make much of a difference to your total weight, but if there is any solid snow/ice cover in the approach gully, your trip could end at the base without them.
