Last week I adopted a new doggy, who I have named Lucas. He is almost 3 years old, a Maltese/Poodle, and very sweet.

He was clearly very well loved by his previous person, who surrendered him to a shelter with all his medical records and "registration papers" with the Continental Kennel Club(a/k/a Puppy Mill Breeders Registry....). He was lucky, because she put him in a kill shelter down in Georgia, and he was rescued by a person the day before he would have been killed. It looks like he spent about three months in foster care before being brought north to the Walden Humane Society near here. He got there on a Saturday, and I saw his picture on Tuesday, and went over there.

From what I have gathered(a little cyber-sleuthing, as the previous owner's name was included in the documents she included when surrendering her dog), living in a cabin on a nature preserve has to be like landing on the moon for this little guy, who was a city slicker southern boy. But, he seems to be adapting well.

Most excellent! Stoked for you on the new addition to your life!

I found my oldest dog, Lincoln, when he was eight weeks old. He had been saved by a rescue shelter. Shelter dogs are the best.

Also, Lucas is a strong name. One of my best friends is named Lucas.

Congrats Happie!

The only way this could be better is if the little guy was a certified mechanic...
