Of course the Dalai Lama is also aware that the universe has no center.
Therefore every place is the center of the universe.
I'm no expert on what might be the currently accepted scientific model for the universe, but mathematically speaking, if the universe has finite total mass, there should be an associated center of mass at any given instant (this is a relative spatial location that could change with time in an unevenly expanding universe). I don't know if this geometrical center of the universe should coincide with the spiritual center (or even what a spiritual center might possibly be), but nature is certainly full of mysteries and surprises.

The observable universe is mathematically flat.
The total universe may be curved, flat or negatively curved, but that's unknowable.

Where's Werner when you really need him?
I thought that peak in Tibet was the centre?

I am the center of the universe cause everything revolves around me. My mommy said so.
Randisi or anyone, go to New Zealand. It is one of the coolest places I've been, a lot like California without all the people. An amazing place that I will hopefully soon return to.

WRONG WRONG WRONG
Everybody knows my daughter is the center of the universe.
Sheesh....
I even have a picture of the center.

Sorry, the way it's like California is in the variety. A little bit of everything and the fishing is off the hook!

Right now California wishes it could have the moisture that New Zealand gets! (sorry for continuing the thread drift)
p.s. Not to name names, but there are probably some people on ST that also wish that California had all of the sheep that New Zealand has. :-)

Every point is the center of the universe.
There is no preferred point.

A short report: looking around a bit, it seems that the current physical theory says no center (even for a center of mass) but I'm not sure why, especially on this second count. However the problem of understanding the center of mass on Riemannian manifolds (a canonical sort of geometric object that includes the smooth, curved surfaces you can imagine and visualize in three dimensional space) is apparently getting some attention in the current research and in various cases mathematicians are finding existence and uniqueness for the center.

So far I have found nature to be both unimaginatively exquisite and horrifically agonizing in all it's beauty, trauma, and depth. While searching from distant galaxies to the inner sanctum of my mind for answers to mysteries, such as the purpose of existence, I have experienced multiple epiphanies and multi layered conundrums. I have also stumbled upon pandora's boxes and secret vaults whispering warnings, and trip wires with booby traps, to find a beach full of nautilus shells all containing the secret, along with my expiration date.

The "equivalence principle" is the basis of General Relativity (Einstein's theory of gravity) basically states that physics is the same at every point in the universe. This principle has been tested to incredible precision.
Not sure what that has to do with the spiritual center, which if it existed would imply that there is no spiritual "gravity"?!

Timid,
I met someone in the Wonderland at JT that swore the "little people" invited him into their hollow boulder and made him spaghetti. We were camping by the Grey Giant, and this guy wandered in out of the falling snow, told his tale, harffed a fatty with us and wandered back out into the snow. Those Lemurians sure do get around ;-)
