Anyone wants to sell or give away some compact bag that is appropriate for hauling? Compact and not too heavy is a big +. Something I could take up multi pitch routes where follower would want to avoid climbing the hard pitch(es) with a bag full of food/water/shoes/extra clothing etc. Or some ugly OW where trailing a pack would make the whole experience PITA. I hauled my REI flash 18, but it is falling apart. Thank god I got it on a used gear sale for 10$...

I just bought a small BD bag for climbing with my son at Devils Tower and though it was only $99 retail(I got it on sale for like $80) and small with nice hauling features it is quite heavy. It has some sort of plastic ring in it on the bottom that keeps if from colapsing. It is also quite rigid and narrow so hard to to get a lot of stuff in it for the hiking. My friend had a haul bag back in the day that was much lighter and less stiff, but probably wont take the punishment that this one will. Just my two cents.

Yeah, this is the problem I have with the BD bags. Those are burly haul bags. I am looking for something less burly. Maybe I should just go to GOODWILL and buy some backpack. Cut extra crap off and use it. Might work..

Ikea bag with a knot in it.

Try fish

Will say the rigidness and the frame on the bottom may help it from getting stuck. Although I got mine stuck on Wiessner on the tower but it is like a 10 inch crack.

Good call especially if the Flash almost works for you. Otherwise my suggestion was going to be the Metolius Sentinel for bomber but not too heavy
Agree with Fish suggestion because he would make exactly what you want. There was another guy on here too making his own gear that was raved about. Maybe someone has that info.

I have a metolius sentinel that I bought used at least 8 years ago and its still kicking so their stuff is way burly. I've used it for walls in a day, fixing, and as an extra bag on a grade 6 and its been sweet but it might be a bit big for what your thinking. I would check the Mescalito which is like 1500 in3 and under 2 pounds. The're both nice it just depends on how big you want the pack to be.

happy hunting

The Sentinel is pretty small. Are you thinking of the quarter dome? I have that one as well and wouldn't consider using it for what the OP is intending.

You are correct Spanky you are talking about their haul packs. That Mescalito must be tiny. They have another one a little larger. Thanks for the scoop.

Stop being a tight ass, spend some money

Bro, the internet is full of climbing dirtbags. I bet someone knows some trick they would want to share here and claim their dirtbag of the week award.

PS: IKEA bags are good for rope bags at the gym, not for hauling :(

Got a Metolius bag, maybe a Mescalito? Part of a gear buy years ago, willing to part with it. PM me if you're interested.
