Man, the two years I spent working and climbing in "N Zed" really opened my eyes. Then I saw a picture of El Cap and knew what was next...

Nice pics Avery! We're getting a N.Z. travelog. I was invited to N.Z. in 1977 br the 1976 N.Z. Torre Egger team. Couldn't make it then and to this date have on transited thru the airport in Aukland....definetly on my short list.

Really miss that place. Lost NZ with the end of a long relationship with a kiwi girl.

So that's what it look likes in sunshine! There is a tiny grimy hut up there that will always have a fond place in my memory when we took shelter from a torrential sleet storm before abandoning our plans and returned to the car.
Great place.

Thanks Jim, One of the first articles I read about climbing was in National Geographic. It was about your first ascent of Torre Egger with Jay Wilson and John Bragg. (I hope I've got those names right)

You can consider yourself very unlucky "TradEddie" to miss out on one of the three fine days a year we get down here.

The terrain has more in common with Argentina and Peru than BC.
As for the weather in NZ, it greatly depends on where you choose to go, some good, some bad. (In other words typical mountain weather)
I don't think there's a Mt Proboscis in NZ.
Thanks for your comments Bruce.
Cheers!

NZ's Glaciers are receding but that's the extent of my knowledge.
Cheers, Bruce.
