Hi, I'll be in Dresden later this month for a week on business. Hoped to make it out to Elbsandstein. I realize it will probably be too cold and wet for actual climbing, but maybe? Haben Sie beta, bitte?

bump this...
climbed there once, basically showed up and attached myself to a couple of guys who had their kids out for the day... met them in the parking lot.
There's a gym in Dresden with some dedicated hard climbers (at least one gym, I was there quite some time ago)... so there is definitely a climbing scene, much like any other climbing scene.
But perhaps someone has more recent, and more specific information.

It's been a couple years since I was there, but the place for beta never changes ;)
Go see Berndt Arnold in Hohnstein at his shop, Bergsport Arnold. It's in the parking lot to the castle.
When we were there, Berndt took us out with a group he already had going, had an awesome time. I built my knot rack in the States, but the prices are fairly similar with the exception of the kinderkoffs (monkeys fists.) also you will want to pick up your smaller knots there - we don't have the Kevlar cord like they do, and some fusselsclinger (sticky slings.)
Have fun!
