Yup….another trip around Big Yellow for the lovely LilaBiene. Her journey and story have gripped me from the start.
Here's to your good health, a beautiful Muppet and long days of climbing…
Looking forward to seeing you again!

Happy Birthday, Audrey.

I belong to your father's generation, but I never met him. Yvon and others spoke fondly of him when I would meet them in the Tetons during the summer. Those were the days I drove around with Yvon in his old car, searching dumps in Jackson Hole for discarded stovepipes, etc. for his forge back in California.

Wow...thank you for all of your well-wishes and thoughtful comments. I am completely blown away and so touched. (Sniff.)

I'm not usually one for birthdays -- I suspect it's due to my lack of a concept of time (truly, it's all relative) -- but today was a really special day full of so many surprises...including this thread. I worked late as my current project is wrapping up and just thought I'd check in to see how everybody's doing...and what a SHOCK to catch my name out of the corner of my eye. I thought I was seeing things! :D

About 9 months ago, Tom Adler contacted me to request permission to publish some photographs taken by my birth dad. I had no idea whether I even had the right to grant it. As it turns out, it might have turned on Dolt having knowledge that I existed, but I didn't know the answer to that question (and figured I never would). I contacted the adoption agency in Anchorage and asked if they might be able to help me help Tom. They told me that Ann never told Dolt. So Tom helped to facilitate the resolution of my question, but I unfortunately still couldn't answer his. (It boils down to a violation of Alaska state law, and whether California or Alaska state laws would govern, etc.) At the end of the day, one way or the other, I would have had to have gone to court. So I offered my blessing instead, thinking that Dolt would have loved the concept of Tom's book, and I certainly didn't want to stand in the way.

When I got home tonight, a lovely, hand-painted card from Neebs was in my mailbox, and a surprise package was sitting inside the doorway...

How's that for a wild and wonderful coincidence?!!! Thank you so much, Tom!!! The book is beautiful, and a real treasure. I'm using every last bit of willpower to savor it a few pages at a time.
