A while back Crusher came to town for a Desert Towers slide show in support of his wonderful book. He loves single malt and we started pulling out bottles to add to the bottle of Glenmorangie Lasanta that he brought as a house warming present.

They kept coming out of every nook and crannie and we had a fleet before long and a good laugh all the while. A few have hit the bottom since but our pleasure remains well defended as you can see.

I was in the habit of buying a bottle every time I got a big check as a contractor knowing that the scotch would outlast the rest of it.

My grandfather used to stash bottles of Canadian Club all over the house so I guess I come by it honestly! LOL

Due to it's miraculous and hitherto undisclosed curative qualities a Ghost recently recommissioned the HMS Ardbeg.

Happy Holidays All!

strictly speaking, McCarthy's isn't scotch, as you probably know

that's a fine constellation of whisky for sure, with good representation of Islay, Highland, and Speyside.

in my opinion, however, any decent home supply should include Johnnie Walker Black Label (not single-malt, I know, but still) and Lagavulin

That's absolute heresy.

Aye lad, curative indeed. Almost brought color to my cheeks. And more than made up for the lack of Lagavulin.

That's definitely a proper Line of Battle! There doesn't even seem to be a second or third rater amongst them!

Mr. Grossman, you need to get to Pints Pub in Denver--they reputedly
have more Scotch whiskey brands than any other pub outside of Scotland. . .

There was a snifter priced at $519 a dram . . .

Stevie, I will be right up!!

Crusher Bartlett's book really is a terrific volume for sure, too. I understand however that if you hollow out that hardback, you can sequester a good-sized flask in it.

Our dog tore up and nearly killed our neighbor's cat one day two months ago as it attempted to cross the holy territory of our Weimaraner's front field. What was required to reset the relationship with our dear neighbor lady was to put a bottle of Glenmorangie Lasanta on her porch. Optimal affairs resumed immediately. Just saying.

The HMS Lasanta is going to the bottom today as she has been taking on air of late.

Crusher's book is truly delightful and gets better with age.

Single malt is the perfect peace offering when all has gone to the dogs...LOL

No Lagavulin?

That was my first reaction when confronted by the armada. But then I spotted the HMS Ardbeg, and all was suddenly right with the world. Not that I am saying anything negative about Lagavulin, but the Ardbeg whiskys are similar and every bit as good.

And then, oddly enough, just a couple of weeks after doing my best to help Steve (& Mimi & Wayno, Masha, & Mari) defend Seattle against that armada, I found myself stuck in Lower Manhattan one winter night, and ducked into The Dubliner to do something about the cold and my hunger. And och aye, it were a strange Irish pub indeed, laddie, what with the food being American and the whiskys being all from Scotland. And on that long shelf of single malts was, yes, a bottle of Lagavulin.

After a glass, I had to email Steve and confirm that indeed, Ardbeg was every bit a fine replacement.

Was in the Bayarrhea this week and picked up a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail for $55.99 at KL Wines on El Camino in Redwood City. That is a steal! Also went for Corryvrecken, which I haven't yet tried.

It's impossible to pronounce Uigeadail correctly until you've had three or so drams...

Being the owner of a fine French liver she likely could even if she fits under there more readily.

We have never squared up in competition but it would be interesting...if a tad debilitating. LOL
