Not sure if a thread like this has been started yet, did not see anything. Figured I could add some climbing content, Wow, what a novel idea to do on ST. :)
Where do you get your climbing fix, meet good people, and have an all around good time when you can't travel very far to do some climbing?
My home crag is Mission Gorge. The rock is slick as a babies bottom, but I have enjoyed learning good footwork as a result. It's San Diego so can't beat the the weather and it was developed in the 60s and 70s so the ratings are not super soft, not that is matters to me, but it helps when you go to older established climbing areas I think, where a 5.9 back in the day is not the same 5.9 now. Here are a some pics I took and some from the web, found an old one taken by Ron A. on MP showing Eppy set up on the rock taking some pics back in the day too.
Where's your favorite home crag that they enjoy?

Yo tradman- that "orcs and goblins" thing is my local crag too. Like 10 min from my house.

My home crag seen from my home:
La Barrosa is exceptional for bouldering:
but we've also put up about 50 short routes.
The routes are mostly bolted:
but there are also a few nice lines for old farts who like to fidget with gear:

An equal measure of sandstone bouldering and cragging. All tiny by US standards. But, it keeps you in the game!

Nice thread dirtclaud! My very first ever lead was one of those Mission Gorge 5.9s with a rack of hexentrics. I loved that place as a little slice of heaven in the sea of surrounding urbanity and congestion.
I'm fairly new to South Pasadena and still trying to figure out where my new home crag is... Stony Point seems like the most likely candidate?
