Zip, was she 23? I've dated quite a few and they're all like that dog in that Pixar movie.
At least you got a text. I normally find out that I lost my turn when I see them at the bar with some other dork.

My ex(wife) got the mid-life crisis blues and showed up one afternoon driving a 1990 Carrera 4 that she bought with a 2nd taken out on our mortgage. Long story short, that baby needed a lot of expensive work at the local Porsche mechanic, she was spending a lot of time there....left me for the mechanic.

p.s. The car and the relationship only lasted about another 4 or 5 months.

ha ha good stuff.

ron, did she take the the ice cube trays and all the toilet paper?

nope not 23. she was old enough to know better.
i have heard in small town resort type transient environments that you never really lose your girlfriend, you just lose your turn.

One girl told me she loved me and got engaged to another guy in the same week. That was weird.

She texted me a month after the wedding to say sorry. Ha!

Asked a chick to be my girlfriend after about 3 months of hanging out and bangin', then she disappeared.

I found out she broke up with me by getting knocked up by another dude.

Being a parent to a tween and teen has illustrated that all relationships are now formed and ended via text an/or Instagram.

Face to face dumping is for old folks.

Got dumped one time while spending the week at Smith Rocks. As I was recounting the story to my partner, Scott Franklin overheard it and said "Dude, you don't need that. There's way more fish in the sea".

I was expecting another nice evening. I got the usual warm welcome and all that.

She made us some food and we sat down at the table. Then she looked up and said, in a level and certain voice "I really like you, but the problem is that when I look you in the eyes I can tell that you are not sane."

There was something in the way she said it, I knew I was toast.

Larry, you are too old to be dating 23 y/o's! But I did enjoy your post.

I once got the word from my MOM, who told me she saw my gal riding "close" in some other guys big 4x4.

All I had was a beat down 63 Nova.....

Had gone out a few times, I was really starting to dig her, we had made plans for the next night, I had to push it back a few hours so called her...

Was greeted by a ranting PSYCHO, hollering at me to leave her alone, stop stalking her, etc.

Found out later (from her roommate whom I vaguely knew) that her on-again / off-again / "ex" was over, and I was just being used as a jealousy-inducer, to prove to HIM how desirable SHE was.

Good riddance there, and good luck to him! It did sting at the time, though - her behavior seemed totally irrational compared to how she was on our few dates - especially since her accusations re: stalking were totally BS.

Had been dating this girl for a few months....thought it might go somewhere.

Took her to a BBQ/climber's gathering held at my main climbing partner's house....probably 30 people there.

After dinner, a climbing video was plugged into the VCR....can't remember the title....a group climbing some peak in the Himalaya.

She and I are sitting with the group having dessert, watching this vid. Some guy ascending a fixed line has the line snap on him....and he goes THOUSANDS of feet....someone makes a joke as he is falling and we all start laughing....except her.

She it TOTALLY aghast the we made light of a guy obviously falling to his death. She tells me to take her home.

She doesn't speak a word to me on the drive to her house.

I barely get the truck stopped at her place and she is jumping she closes the door she says, "You and your climber friends are completely INSANE!"

Of course.....she was right.

That's a good one Crag. From some of the stories you told me when I met you about of the FAs you guys did around June Lake back in the day, I would say she "was" right.
Can't say I have any dump stories that compare to the ones here so far.

right there, right then

You SAR types, eh Crag? Can't say I blame her! Kinda have to be in the club to understand that darker humor...

Yeah, dirt claude and Guernica....I really cannot blame her at all....different strokes for different folks.

All these years later, my wife has tolerated the 65 body recoveries I've done with hardly a blink.

We're all cut from different cloth.

Probably the funniest thing about that incident with that gal was that she was a member of my church....and she spread the word around that I was some sort of nutjob.

After that, all these girls would give me the stinkeye.

A few years later, the climbing buddy that hosted that party that night ended up becoming my best man at my wedding. When I first told him I had gotten engaged, he said to me, "Did you give this girl the video test?"

We STILL joke about that!

Got dumped via text as well yesterday. Now coordinating book/DVD exchange via text. Well, actually the dumping was first by text then with verbal confirmation. Very civil.

Oh, but wait. Now she deleted all of my pictures from her Facebook. Uh oh, now I'm blocked. Interesting, that was in the middle of a conversation she initiated. Kind of like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" when people and things are disappearing. Not very friendly. :-(

This is quote of the day...

""You and your climber friends are completely INSANE!"

Of course.....she was right."

I've never been "ghetto" dumped before but was at a tech company after the bubble burst that escorted everyone out via armed guards... That felt pretty ghetto.
