Has anyone done Strassman's route on the Third Recess? Any good?

Heard it is in a great setting, but the route (the Strassman-Wilkerson right?) is kinda loose and not too great. Classic alpine give and take...

This doesn't have anything to do with anything but how I fondly recall backpacking several years ago from
Tom's Place to Tuolumne Meadows ( via Mammoth) and spending a night at Fourth Recess lake. Caught some trout with a hand line and found some wild onions near the outlet stream.
Memories...

I've always been fascinated with Recess Peak when I study topo maps of the area. I've only seen it from afar, but I've seen it from so many different vantage points that it must possess a great view. I think this may be the year to find out up close and personal.

Mono Pass has some stunning views. 10, 599 ft. Elevation. Been over it with a heavvvvvy pack.

There's a picture in Moynier and Fiddler's California's High Sierra (2nd edition). Will try to post recent pic soon.

I climbed it last summer. Hoots is right, it's not great, but enjoyable. The rock is not exactly loose, but it is a little grainy, especially the first pitch. The trail along Mono Creek is one of the worst I have encountered in the Sierra however. It's eroded and pulverized by countless hooves.

I thought this climb was really fun. Much better than Mt Goode or Bear Creek Spire. It was adventurous, and fairly sustained, like Picture Peak.

Gorgeous place. Add it to the list of places to visit if you have not been. My friend and I climbed a route which ascends the direct north buttress. To my surprise, the Strassman route goes up a ways to the left of the true buttress before joining it up high.
