If dogs aren't allowed, you should tell them. But it's all in the way you do it. Sounds like your GF didn't handle it very well.

Perhaps GF should consider charm school...

Information about rules and standards can be passed on without insulting or attempting to reign over other folk

Tact can go a long way sometimes. Just the other day my pard told a guy about how he shouldn't be parked where he was. He said "heads up on the parking ,dude" while he really meant "yo dipsh!t grow a brain!" I know this because I speak and understand N.Carolinian. ;)

You did the right thing by not letting it get out of control.

GF may not have been so vocal had she been alone. Something to ponder.

Wow! I can understand your need to vent.

I can only remember two occasions when I felt so strongly about something climbing/in a climbing area that I felt the need to vent. Once was in Yosemite Valley when I saw a chinese grandma walking with her family and picking every fiddlehead fern she saw. I explained politely that it was not allowed and was ignored. So I followed them to their car and wrote down the license number and reported it to a ranger. I was pretty upset.

You shouldn't try to enforce laws but if you honestly think someone doesn't know a law you could mention it to them. But you always speak to strangers at your own risk. Your gf should think about the risk. People can react in unpredictable ways.

In my youth I dated two different women who created situations that caused me to fight ...

you were lucky the guy backed down since you did not seem prepared for what your girl friend started .....

tip ..... find a new girl friend

She probably would have said it even alone too! At least I would and... I probably would get myself beat up for my efforts/stupidity, etc, but hey... I believe people should respect the laws. I wouldn't take my dog in places that the law states is illegal. I think there are good reasons for certain laws that I might not obviously see. Respecting the Law is respecting yourself, (at least that was the Greek ideology during Plato's time.)

Good of you to be calm and get the heck out of there... Proud of you too. It shows a whole lot of maturity and that you have a good head on your shoulders.

Next time just call the Police... Much easier to let the folks who get paid to do that job than you folks.

FYI... Cosgrove doesn't carry a purse. He's a big guy, he just looks at most folks and they wilt away.

Good point, but perhaps she was only vocal because he was there ..... scary

Your GF was within her rights to inform the other party, but her mistake was in becoming confrontational. She could have simply smiled, shrugged her shoulders and said "It's YOUR a$$." These days it's not good to confront strangers unless you have some means of (1) egress, or (2) a means of dissuading the other party; you mentioned concealed carry. But really, is that worth the complications? She did her thing, and should have then dropped the subject. Then called the cops.

Yer 6'3" and 205?

How big was he?

How big was his dog?

Where was yer roscoe?

Pepper spray?

Did she at least take some video or pics?

Did they KNOW about the dog ban and were just scofflaws?

Did the dog act aggressively too?

Did they even know how to place pro?

Questions, questions.
One thing I don't wonder about, though; how big yer gf's pussy is.

My guess is 6'3" lol

(can I get a rimshot)

Yeah, in this day and age, be esp careful.

In this day and age, you can confront someone, they reciprocate a bit, you confront further, even in the slightest way, and then they can shoot you dead with their conceal carry. Six months max. Zero with a good lawyer. It's a different world out there, even at your local crag.

Step 1. Zap em with your can of Bear Spray.

Step 2. Kick them in the nads while they are writhing on the ground.

Step 3. Look at GF and tell her she's an obnoxious ahole.

Step 4. Run like hell to the car and split.

step 5. Update your Facebook page with tales of derring-do.

I tell them no dogs in BCC or LCC and they will get fined if Canyon Patrol catches them. Weekends after 11am are a zoo up BCC. Get up earlier.

Law enforcement is not your responsibility
If you chose to try to be the enforcer, you get what you deserve

I would politely inform the offender about the rules
They may be nice people but ignorant of the rules, that's all

If they get nasty, inform law enforcement at your earliest convenience
Pepper spray in self defense, if necessary
