I just may buy Ian's helmet for myself. He'll do a lot of climbing that way.

Otherwise though, there are pieces of his gear I'll be using and I'm also going to stop into Redding to pick up some of his ashes.

The only aid climber ever to carry more chisels than heads.
Edit: Only saw the alumiheads at first, but still only 9 heads and 4 chisels.

That's a lot of gear for Pine Line. You should try to go higher, like to Sickle Ledge or something if you have all that stuff.

Drive to Yosemite with his ashes and all my stuff, jump on El Cap and at the
appropriate place and time will set Ian free on the stone he loved best!

Exactly.

Nose was packed today. Looks like people didn't get the memo that el cap isn't open yet

What routes are you planning on this year?

and there is about a 100% chance that there will be less adventure stealing heads and tat on the route when we finish it too!

Can't wait to meet you Mark. You carry celebrity status in my household. I believe I have read all or most of your TR's...but I am looking forward to this one the most!

Bags are mostly packed, but we head out in 1.5 weeks. Still need to get a couple more liters of jugs, some last minute fresh fruit. Last minute weather check will determine which sleeping bag to bring and any final clothing tweaks.

Theft at the base really puts a damper on things, we will have to a larger than desirable last load to keep from leaving anything vulnerable at the base.

one day in february, 2005,
a semi-tractor trailer showed up
at my bare property
and unloaded an entire house load
of lumber, all neatly stacked
in units and tarped.

he drove away.
i looked at the pile of wood.
and i looked at the patch of dirt
where my house belonged.

i thought to myself,
now i gotta take all that
and make something else of it.

build a good ascent, mark.
what route will you go at first?

ben d and i went from meeting to picking a route to blasting on the route in about 15 hours if I recall correctly... that was kinda cool. racked up while having dinner..
being psyched about a particular route for years in advance is probably even better though.

I met Max in the morning and was biving on Sickle Ledge with him that evening, our first route together ever.
