I lived near the Costo right off Charleston and 215. Easy access to stores and climbing. I ventured into Vegas proper exactly never.
Somewhere between Desert Inn and Summerlin Parkway and W of Decatur would be good.

BTW ~ Welcome to the City of Sin !
I love this town! Great climbing on multiple types of rock. Epicenter of the best the south west has to offer regarding climbing.
Great lakes for sailing and water fun.
Fantastic deserts al around yah.
Shiitey ski area but hey... we have one of those as well.
Where else can you get sushi (within eye shot of the crags) on a Tuesday night at midnight ?
Ohhhh yeah.... have you checked out 'Mountainproject/RedRock/NV forum ?
Over there ^ there are some 'Stickies' with great info.
'Dirty Gri Gri' in particular is a great local resource and very obliging with her wealth of local knowledge.
Go to 'beer nights' when they come up. They are a great way to meet some of the locals like GiGi and Larry 'D'.
Best a luck m8
