Gian, below. Great post. I only edit in this post because it looks like the thread has been taken down, after I tried to post a thanks to you for informing us. I'd imagine, and I could be wrong, that Mountainlion nuked the thread (so, how come I can still edit this post?)

That's me writing on the following thread:

http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=2100128&msg=2101242#msg2101242

I am no techie, so if a OP deletes their original post doesn't that take down the whole thread?

Hi Patrick

So the deal is if the op deletes the opening post, you can no longer reply to the thread, but you can still edit posts. You can also still search for the thread. If the thread disapears completely then you know that it was taken down from on high, aka admin deleted it.

It's too bad mountainlion ruined his earlier efforts..

It does, but the rest is searchable. Unless it's a super nuke from the powers that be.

Dunno squat about Mountainlion except this. The stuff I sent him went to some philipino's who love to climb. It is getting used and making folks smile.

The rest is just the endless drama of the climbing community. Stuff I learned to stop paying much attention to ..oh about 20 years ago... cause it's the same sh#t in every climbing area in all the world for over 100years... lolz.

Hi Pat and Hi guys,

Yes, I can still see the posts if I typed any keyword or key phrase that is in the post (e.g. mountainlion, what's a worthy cause, etc.). Mountainlion deleted his post after I posted mine. I wonder why.

Supposedly, I was just hanging around in the forum looking at your cool photos and learning from you, guys. But I just can't take it when he posted misconceptions about us as Filipinos and Filipino climbers. I'm not saying he's lying, but the way he's letting you view us from his distorted perception of us is greatly embarrassing for us as Cebuanos, Cebuano climbers, and Filipinos. It doesn't paint an accurate picture of us as citizens, the way we climb, and the climbing culture here.

So I figured out I'd give you a real insight on the climbing culture here. I think for mountainlion, "the truth hurts."

By the way, I'm a climber in Cantabaco, Cebu, and mountainlion climbs there too. We don't like him.

It does, but the rest is searchable. Unless it's a super nuke from the powers that be.

Yes, it is. Actually, I was wondering why it is so. In other forums, when the OP deletes the first, original post, the entire thread goes poof. But if he deletes his subsequent posts, the thread remains.

The stuff I sent him went to some philipino's who love to climb. It is getting used and making folks smile.

Yes, thank you (but I didn't get any because I have my own gear) but that's half of the story. I'll just keep the other half to myself because I would end up bashing him below the belt (that's not professional, and I wouldn't go that far).

Mountainlion, without provocation, bashed our blog Adrenaline Romance and discredited us as bloggers/adventurers/climbers. It was just so horrible that its effects sent ripples through the Cebuano climbing community. Now, the community is fractured, and we're trying to fix it.

cause it's the same sh#t in every climbing area in all the world for over 100years

Uhmm...not every climbing area in the world, I have to say. In Cebu (and Philippines in general), the climbing family is very small. Local climbers, around a little over 20; and other climbers around the country, super less than a hundred. Thus, it's tightly knit family. We don't bicker, we just enjoy ourselves, and we support each other in climbing. Until mountainlion came. The climbing family became a bit fractured. Just a bit, though. We've gotten really close, so it's nothing that a good beer can't fix.

Thanks Couchmaster. You can address it in my office so the package will surely arrive and that you'd know that it's going to more "professional" and "real" destination than a home or personal address.

Once the package arrives, I'll send you a note and the schedule for bolting. You may also want to give me a couple of names, words, phrases, etc. which you want the bolted route to be named. These are your bolts, after all.

I sent you a PM/email.

Sh#t happens we all say stupid crap that gets blown the hell out of proportion. But if it it is really causing some trouble at home.. get together and hash it out. Have some dinner and some respect for different goals and visions.

I have no clue what the the issue is and I sure as hell don't want to know all the gory rediculous details.. it's always the same variations of a few basic themes anyway.

Be happy.. you guys have a great crag and enthusiastic climbers.

Be happy.. you guys have a great crag and enthusiastic climbers.

Thanks! Gimme a ring whenever you come and visit Cebu, Philippines. We'll be happy to take you to our crag.

And definitely, a huge thanks to Mountainlion for his efforts. If it was not for him, the other climbers there wouldn't have equipment. We may be at odds with each other and we have huge differences, but he also definitely deserves credit for contributing much to the climbing community here.

Oh, and yes, the climbers who got your (and others) donations are definitely very, very happy. In behalf of the other Cantabaco and Campo 7 climbers, thank you.

1. Climbing discovered by locals

2. Cool gear finds its way to promising climbers

3. Climbers climb more and harder climbs

4. Sh#t storm starts!

Same thing happened in a valley in this country about 40-50 years ago. The circle of life.

Sucks to see such a great effort degenerate into a load of drama. Can't we all just get along.

If anyone in SoCal wants to send another box out that way I have some gear already donated by some STers and I have a rope I just replaced. PM me to arrange a pickup somewhere, JTree, LA or SD.

It is a pretty good size box, flat rate for 75 bucks, it hold a good 60-70 pounds of gear. There is an old thread with the load we sent before.

Jon Beck,

I know. It's sad. But, well, that's life.

OT: By the way, where in Southern California are you located? My dad is somewhere there working as a caretaker.

Really? That is cool! My dad lives somewhere in San Diego, but I can't remember his exact address. Based on the pics he sent me, it seems you live in an awesome place! Wish I could visit there someday.
