Anyone use or remember the Bachli Seilbremse belay, rappel device from the '81 Chouinard cat.? I have always used it and love it. Serious forged steel and simple.

I remember mine. I dropped it at Lee Vining icefall approximately 30 years ago. I really miss it. Dang. Would anybody wanna sell me one?

Was it as good as a Sticht Plate?

Wow, never saw one of those. A mechanical crutch for those unable to manage a Munter hitch.

Maybe a little less wear on the rope?

Undoubtedly, which is why I only used the Munter in a pinch, or three. ;-)

Used one for several years in the mid-80's. Worked well and gave a nice, smooth rappel. I switched to the Lowe Tuber when it came out as it was better for belaying.

Saw that catolog page in '85 and thot, "Looks pretty slippy. Think I'll stick with my solid, non-spring, Stict plate. Never used one.

Still have mine. Bought it for ice climbing, thinking of resurrecting it as my Clog plate is getting a little old.

Had one in the late '80s. Too slippery.

Mar,
I got one I'd sell you. I don't know of its integrity though. I found it a long time ago one winter out at Lee Vining below an ice fall.

Todd, I'll try to make my humor more obvious in the future. Thanks for the heads up! ;-)
