It was a crisp cold morning this morning,so got up early and headed up to Castle to boulder some classic problems before the park became a mob scene. Arrived at the parking lot before 10, the temp at the parking lot was 38, brrrrr!!!. Hiked to Castle Rock proper, not a pad person in sight, the area was mine :-), One cool thing about the boulder scene is a alpine start for them is 1:00pm, and by that time i am done and ready to go home for a cold beer.It was a great day at Castle, but cold.

Such a pretty area. It's might Stoney Point might look like if it had alot more oak trees, no graffiti, no broken glass, no trash, etc., etc.

Don't worry, FatDad, but Summit Rock in Sanborn County Park, only a stone's throw from Castle Rock, has plenty of grafitti, broken bottles and trash. Mostly because it's now off-limits due to a pair of nesting peregrines, only partyers and drunks go there at night. However, Castle and its surroundings are now in very good shape, largely due to the climber presence there. Climbers don't like to see their routes spray painted and are also enraged when drunks throw bottles down on them from above.

Thanks for posting these here, Mike. Illustrates what a really nice bouldering area Castle is.

Nice with the rug and towel instead of pad-stacks and spotters.
