Who needs a deathbed? I've seen plenty of evidence that in old age many of us will confess to lots of things we probably never did. But forget in about 5 minutes.

Aren't death bed confessions sorta cowardly? Legally, they may be deemed "inadmissible" or for whatever reason not given equal weight as other forms of testimony.
