Heyo, I can keep your dying heart beating, but I cant do a simple thing on my mac. Trying to download a bunch of music from itunes onto a flash drive to send to a buddy deployed in afghanistan. How the hell, it asks for a format and i have no idea. He'll probably be using a PC to download, but not sure what machine he'll be using. I want to send it in a format that can be downloaded onto his itunes, wherever that may be.

Seems like Im hung up just knowing the format based on what I want to do above. Thanks in advance, a special forces group will be happier when I get some music sent their way.

Just do a Fat32 format and you'll be good for both windows and mac ......

What Werner said. This may help as well.

"Format" for what?

If it's asking what format for the music files, mp3 is fine. There are higher fidelity choices, but if you don't know, just go with mp3.

Buddha, before trying the instructions in T H's link, understand that the instructions may be for something you're not trying to do...

Most Flash Drives are FAT when you buy them so you might not need to format the drive.

If you choose to: open Disk Utility, select your Flash Drive, click on Erase, select Format: MS-DOS (FAT).

You can move your files real fast if you can find them on your hard drive. They are kinda hidden. Depending on your OS & version of iTunes, you'll find them in a nest of folders like this one:

YourMac>YourHardDrive>Users>YourUserName>Music>iTunes>iTunes Media>Music

(fookin ridiculous)

Open that folder and drag and drop to your Flash Drive from there.
