In 2000 I rode a bus from La Paz to TJ, and at some point saw CataviÑa fly by, but that's about it for me.

Where in Baja are you thinking of going? The weather forecast for northern Baja looks great this week. Temps in the 60s in the Sierra de Juárez / Cañón del Tajo.
I will be driving down on Friday morning and returning Saturday. No plans to climb, but likely to either ride a horse over to base camp or do a campsite clean up. If you want an orientation to the area, you're welcome to follow me from San Diego.

Jay:

If you're thinking of a Canon Tajo venture, take Juan up on his offer! Thanksgiving can be gorgeous down there if the forecast is good! (of course I've been there on Thanksgiving with a foot of snow too...)

This thread caught my eye.(Hmmm...wonder why?) I'd love to spend the week in Baja, but find myself in Flagstaff for the Thanksgiving week. But if I could spend a week in Baja, it would be a tough choice between spending it at a remote beach, surfing, fishing, beach combing vs. a week in the Sierra San Pedro Martir. If I wanted to spend a week climbing in Baja, I'd go there. There is so much to do there... hiking, bouldering, peak bagging. Whatever you do, check back in and give us a report.

I have been to Baja for surf trips, never to climb. Catavina looks like it could have some amazing stuff!

In fact, is there good stuff in Baja? Anyone ever climbed down there? Post up some pics!

I've climbed routes in Cabo and done a bit-o-bouldering around La Paz.Nothin' to write home about but fun due to locale. Those place's are more for beeraneering or in this case cervezaneering. ;-) Have fun folks!!

Here's a TR I wrote after climbing Picacho Del Diablo a few years back. Not exactly a rock climbing destination, but there is some pretty nice rock on that mountain. Only problem is its a biotch to get to. But the park itself is filled with boulders. Very reminiscent of the Black Mountain area here in So Cal. And yeah, there is some stuff in Cataviña as well.

Roger, you'd dig Canon Tajo. BIg routes on big golden granite domes, in the Mexican version of the Sierra.

Jay, too bad that plans changed and you had to work over the weekend.
The weather was a perfect 62-65F, with blue skies and no wind.
Hope you can make it down there in the spring.
