I have a topo I drew for Keeler Needle on Paint, hopefully so you guys could get a copy... But when I upload it to Images it turns to a blurry craptastic master piece.

Any suggestions?

Might be better off posting the topo to a different image server (like imgur or picasaweb) that will store it a full resolution and then link to that image server in the supertopo post. Then people can access the full sized image instead of the shrunk version on ST.

I can read it, but the test is how it prints out. If I were going to use it, I would print it and then take it to the place in town where they make fake IDs, and have it plastic-coated, then punch a hole in it so it can be clipped in.

I found that gif images print much clearer than jpgs for diagrams like these. jpgs are for photos, gifs are for drawings, logos, cartoons, etc. But, you may lose the quality going to gif format. Its worth a try.

This is a map of a cave, about 2 inches by 3 inches, and the diagram is tiny but still readable:

Like the other folks said, host it on a different image site. Supertopo converts it to JPG which makes it fuzzy. Or email it to me and I'll host it on my site and link it direct here. (I'll convert to PDF or GIF)

Jpeg is fine on the screen, but link it out to a PDF to be able to use it in printed form. Even GIF is better than jpg, but the image will need to be quite large.

Edit: Just looked at it close in another program. Even for an onscreen looksee that image should be double that size if you want people to be able to see all the info.

Save As PNG

jpeg has a lossy compression. PNG does not. No need for PDF.

PNG is a bitmap where a PDF is vector based and will give better results for printing out lines and topo type stuff according to the experts.

Miles, send that file over to someone to test out the best way to get a good screen image and sharp scalable printout. I'll do it if you want. Email me.

Clint probably has the best solution, but when I clicked on the topo, my screen enlarged it to readable size, and it printed out adequately.

I bet SteelMonkey has a really nice version of this - he's the best I know at it.
Here are the original versions in PDF and GIF:

Because the text is bitmapped by Paint, it does not scale smoothly when you zoom in. Most likely Greg's versions have this improved.

Thank you Miles!

Remember folks, screen rez is only 72 dpi, but print needs to be about 180, but better at 240 for a topo. Miles, your uploaded image was only 800x1024pixels, Clint's version is double that.
