Hi Barry,

Dingus here,

Enclosed please find 2 pairs of Asolo Ballet Golds (the best all around shoe ever :-))

Full soles on both, XS-Edge rubber, as thick as you’ve got (you said 5 mm, not sure if there is thicker version but will take it if you’ve got it). Use your best judgment on this.

Two of the shoes have a hole in the sole that wore slightly into the rand – so I’m planning on two rand repairs (both left shoes, lol). The right shoe rands appear to be ok… but again would defer to your opinion. I’m sending you a check for $xxx to cover two full resoles and two rands. If you think I should do the other two rands….

I’ve also enclosed a little something extra… This 'extra' is intended to, a. Expedite the resole process via good favor of the cobbler (ie. You) and b. I think your services and long time friendship are worth it.

If you think the other two soles need repairing please do so, take the $22 out of that cash and let me know and I will make you whole on the tip. If the rands are good then so are we - you're paid in full.

Sound good?

I have a new pair of Ballet’s too, so while I would like to get these back sooner rather than later? Its not a fire drill and you’re not holding me up really even if it does take 7-weeks.

I've experienced nothing but the best service from Barry for more than 2 decades. He is NOT the Walmart of climbing shoe repair. He's the guy down the street and he takes care of me.

Comes around, goes around. This is how we do it.

I have some Acopa Merlins that I'm too afraid to climb in anymore because they're the best slab shoe I've ever climbed in. I need a nice resole on them. This is the go to guy huh?

Locker does real nice work, too.

Yes michaeld, he's the man. Never had so much as a millimeter of delam on one of his resoles, ever.

I need to send off my Acopa Chameleons myself, but I've been scared someone I randomly choose would ruin them. I've got a pair of Merlins while these are down but I like the Chameleons better day to day. Any chance I could get in contact with Barry? Sounds like a good guy!

Barry is the best. It's cool dropping shoes off to him, cause his workshop is covered with posters and pictures of climbing from all eras. Also, some of the relic shoes are hanging around and Barry is always happy to talk climbing, routes he's done and routes he wants to do. Genuine and craftsmanship sum up Barry's Resoles. Plus you get a mint and sticker with a resole.

yeah... I deal with locker. last time he resoled my shoes it took him two whole hours. I guess that part was great - it's just too bad I had to go to f'ing Uzbekistan to pick them up.

I've heard great things about Barry. Good for you for giving him a plug.

If I send him shoes, can he send them back to me in Indonesia. I don't mind paying for the shipping.

Barry is top notch! His work impeccable!

He has resoled my:
Boreal Aces(Original Model) 2 or 3 times
5.10 Ascents 2 times
Boreal Jazz 2 times
Red Chili Spirit 1x
Scarpa Techno 1x
5.10 Anasazi Slippers 1x

Had the good fortune to have roped up with him on a number of occasions.
Fun to be around and a wealth of knowledge!

And He will continue to have my business.

Plus my shoes smell fresh with the mint in them!

I love Barry, he's a great guy and a genius with shoes. He is definitely the guy I go to with Kaukulator resoles, his new heel rand design avoids problems that the original Sportiva rand has when you're using those puppies full bore in the OW.

My Acopa Chameleons were resoled by Locker a time ago and they're still great, use them in the gym and a little bit outside. Good resole, and Locker also fixed some stuff above and beyond the usual half sole resole.

One pair of my Acopa Legends are at Barry's for C4... the other pair he put Onyx... but when they need a resole I will probably send them to Locker if he still has any Acopa rubber.

I'm down with the Rubber Room. Helps that I live in Bishop. Even when I didn't Tony has always turned my shoes super fast. Must have had 10 pairs done there by now and not a single problem. That being said I do have a friend in town that actually sends there shoe's to Barry. So he must really be that damn good. Or she just really likes mints.
