What is this thing?

Have you ever had them crawl toward the fire and then back out, run around in a crazy pattern, then reappear minutes later doing the same thing?

Richard Pryor?

I'll need to go back and watch his specials. I think I'm missing a good one liner. :)

On June 9, 1980, during the making of the film Bustin' Loose, Pryor set himself on fire after freebasing cocaine while drinking 151-proof rum. He ran down Parthenia Street from his Northridge, California, home, on fire, until subdued by police. He was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for burns covering more than half of his body. Pryor spent six weeks in recovery at the Grossman Burn Center at Sherman Oaks Hospital. His daughter, Rain Pryor, stated that Pryor poured high-proof rum over his body and set himself on fire in a bout of drug-induced psychosis

You must be one of those malcontents that keeps getting banned because you have no other outlet in your life. Sad. To bad you can't use that witty keyboard of yours to add some value.

Yours truly,

Piton Ron, LOL, yep!

Have seen those in anza borrego. They look like something out of the movie alien. No woman will enjoy a 100 mile perimeter after seeing one of those things.

We call them vinigaroons but I believe that ID is way off. It is indeed a scorpian spider. And freaky. They are very fast, and scurry from light. I just cant think about it when I cowboy camp out there. I only see them in summer, winter is safe.

Munge.. that's a Jerusalem Cricket aka "potato bug". It's an insect.. not an arachnid. What looks like the front legs are antennae. They are mostly subterranean and nocturnal... and just plain creepy.

Your picture is a juvenile BTW.. they get bigger and ookier looking as adults. The Wiki pic is what an adult looks like. I had an infestation of those things inside my house when I lived out in Box Canyon.

*(shudder)*

Nothing worse than waking up eye to eye with a 3 inch alien crawling around on your pillow.

ookier is right! thx for the id!

Siddens, yeah, not fullproof though. Least wise, I picked up a couple ants at one point a couple years ago. Just keep the rig clean and it's golden otherwise.
