My wife brought it home the other day. Not bad. It would be nice to see them make it. All in all the content is good, and the pictures are good. It holds some promise from the tired and horribly worn out Rock & Ice and Climbing magazines.
They appear to be selling a minor amount of ad space, but we will see how it goes.

What's California? A big place that's gonna crack off from an earthquake and sink into the ocean.
Until then, it's got some decent climbing.

I saw the first edition and it was very cool. I agree that it was a breath of fresh air from the standard mag. It was cool how even some of the advertisers got into the Cali theme. I'm looking forward to the next one and hope it hangs around for awhile.

Jealousy and hate of California and Californians will get you nowhere.
C'mon just because we live in "The Land of Milk and Honey" on this side of the Atlantic, (and not taking anything away from the Holy Land), doesn't mean you have to be haters.
The only state within all 50 states to have the greatest diversity in geomorphic provinces, and outlandish superlatives galore. You know, tallest Mtn. in the lower 48, lowest elevation in the Western Hemisphere, biggest trees in the world, tallest trees in the world, oldest trees in the world, and list goes on and on ...
Where else can you surf, BC ski, climb, SCUBA dive, fly a paraglider etc. all in one day?

Yeah, I tried to sign up for a subscription to support their cause but never received any word back so I gave up.
Haven't seen the mag yet. Where would one get a copy if they so chose???

Not sure. Mine came from Nomad Ventures.
Starting a magazine is a big undertaking. Not too mention the fact that this mag is pretty narrow in scope, for now.
It's easy to put out a couple of these, but to carry it on long term is a whole other story.
I wish them the best.

"If it is not as good as penthouse, I am not interested."
A refreshing and reasonable sentiment.
On the other hand I would be very concerned if you were running loose with your kickstand in your hand just because you got the latest edition of a climbing magazine...

california is a myth
any stories you've heard of climbing in california are the delusional rants of mentally unstable confabulators, I can tell you from bitter experience that there is nothing but choss piles
best not to waste your time going to California, voyage elsewhere for real climbing
ignore the fictional stories, they are all lies and the photos are "shopped" composites from other, much better places...
