Pulled this out of a pine tree where I live (the ghetto) in Mammoth. My landlord said some climbers used to rent the place, and had strung up bachar ladders etc in the yard. Sean Plunkett was mentioned as one of the occupants, or visitors. I'm curious about the initials stamped on both sides. Thanks for any info.

That's a Stubai 45 deg. diagonal - they still sell them, though that looks like it might be an old hand-forged one.

Agreed,

If it's not Stubai, it could be Charlet Moser, who I think had an identical peg?If not either of those then it's what directly prededed them. I was using stuff like that in the early 70s.

Stubai Universal not Charlet-Moser and made of Chrome Vanadium alloy steel (CVM). Not very old.

I have a pile of Stubai CVM blades for sale if anyone needs to buy some reliable alpine rap anchor hardware.

That sounds definitive, though I've never seen one quite that weathered and beaten.

Biotch...You live on Lupin...? Plunkett lived next door for a winter...Literally...we lived in the same house and shared a common door that was always locked....I recall Scole visiting on occasion...I think there was a bachar ladder outdoors in the summer...? rj

Lupin...?
It was the (north east) corner of Mono and Dorance - that ugly brown buiding. We've since moved. I remember seeing pics from the Lupin location tho ... looked pretty lively.

BRAVE COWBOY:

That's a DMM. It just probably has paint obscuring the stamp.

Agree, Stubai.

Per the stamp this was after Clogwyn folded.
Clog did make a similar pin.

Wondering if gear made in EU or cheap imported junk from Asia.
