Having experienced Mt St Helens I can assure you it will make you feel a part
of nature, and insignificant.

So how many of us saw Mt. St. Helens blow on May 18th, 1980 in person?
Raise your hand.

Me, me, oh pick me, me, oh pick me!!!!

I was on Beacon Rock, Columbia Gorge, on May 18th, 1980. My friend Perry and I had just done a route on the south face, topped out and drove out of the gorge later in the day. We didn't see a thing we didn't hear a thing. We were right smack in the sound shadow.

But when we drove out of the Gorge, lo and behold St. Helens had blown. We pulled over on the side of the highway and sat there dumb-founded watching just as everyone else was.

Nah, TGT...they considered using Chris Christie, though, but there is no machinery sufficient to move his girth....

This would work for both of them at once.

Nice effect with the recent snow, and "lava lamp" at night (Klimmer's upthread webcam post).

That's nothing, this is what it looks like when Popocatepetl erupts, from the eruption a couple of days ago:

If you've ever been to Mexico City, you can see this huge volcano when there's a break in the smog. I remember being pissed off when I learned that the Mexican govt doesn't let anyone climb it, lol.

I climbed it in the early 1988... before the most recent eruption cycle.
