A buddy talked to Tom Kasper of #9 and #12 Valley Giant (VG) fame not too long of a while back and said TK told him he would make the #12 VG to order, and that he was going to mfg some #9's to have on hand for sale. Checked his site and it wasn't up. As of today it still isn't. takasper@pacbell.net

I know that he'd once discussed not mfg them anymore as they are a labor of love and not really a profit center, did he follow through on that?

Wired Bliss is talking about doing both a 7.5" and a 9" cam, but strangely haven't done it yet despite appearing to have the cam lobe cut out last October or so.

anyone know wuz up?

Give Tom some time. He will get back to you but sometimes these things take awhile. He manufactures those Valley Giants on his own. He got some units to me and a friend when we wanted to do Excalibur last year. There is no production line, no employees, just Tom. He'll deliver, eventually.

If anybody gets a hold of him I want to know. I have his A5 hammer and want to give it back to him. It was a big help during the D5 project.

He dropped by at the shop a while back and we chatted about different machining proccesses. I recommended another local shop I had used. He seemed at the time to be pursuing some new methods to streamline production while still holding a high standard. The impression I got was he was not quiting just going down a slightly differnet path with the VG's. I wish him well and hope to see him pop up again soon.

Hey, Y'all.

My new website is, indeed, www.valleygiant.com. Google also links to my site from offwidth cam, etc.

Theron, I'll call or drop by your shop to get my A5 hammer, and a D5, if they're any left.

I'm anxious to see the Wired Bliss #9, so I can steal their idea 8-)

How old are those pics of PTPP? I think he still uses that old coffee mug/press!

Has any one talked to Tom lately? Just looking for some info on an order, but I'll stop cluttering up his inbox if he's traveling or unwell.

Hopefully he's just enjoying some extended fall climbing.

I'm no cam collector, but an old Tom Kasper Valley Giant, size 9, is now sold on eBay. Is this a gem?

Wired Bliss? Steve Byrne use to curve the bottoms like that. Have not seen a Valley Giant that did, but maybe Tom Kasper will weigh in, or anyone else with intelligence on this (Steve Grossman, Stephan, Marty, Deuce etc etc etc) to advise if it is a VG or something else. Translates to dollars to $185.38 and a new one on Kaspers site is $200. http://www.valleygiant.com/no9cam.html

Google translate:
"Offer a clamping device Valley Giant from the US manufactory of Tom Casper, in size 9.
This clamp begins where commercial clamps stop, so in widths over Camalot 6 or Technical Friend 6.
Private sale without guarantee and return from non-smoking household."

I've just sent a message to Tom Kasper about this mysterious camming device which, I well believe, is not a Valley Giant...
The cam lobes look like Yates Big Dudes; the trigger bar looks like the Faces Four Cam Cads; the axle ends look like Wild Country Friends
