Hello all;

I'm a recent transplant to the central valley and can't find any good beta/topos for the Table Mountain area, in particular the Grotto Wall, and Ort Wall (right behind Grotto?) any beta on the approach (aka, take a left at the log, right at the shoe lace, etc... would be much appreciated). hoping to head out in the next week or so and check it out.

Cheers~

Go into Sierra Nevada Adventure Company in downtown Sonora, buy a guidebook then put your name in the buddy book or get some phone numbers off the bulletin board.

There are always folks looking for partners.

Ps. Have fun and be respectful of the neighbors.

definitely respectful of the locals. I've got a place back home which I feel the same about.

I'm hoping to get an earlier start than 10:30am when they open, plus I called and the guy said they were out of the guide book (no longer in print, and aparently a new one is in the works? anyone know anything about that?)

thx for the tips!

Don't try to drive your Porsche past the gate at the horse farm. You can drive to the end of the road with a high clearance vehicle however. Close the gates behind you and do not drive off road, anywhere back there.

I take it you know how to get there? Given the weather report there will be folks around who can give you beta on finding the trail and figuring out the routes. Use google, key words table mountain grotto climbing, or some such and check out some of the links. No topos that I see, however.

I think I know where were going but I've read two different things.

For going to Grotto, do you drive past the 2nd gate and park and the trails on the left? from Grotto, wheres the trail to get on top of table mountain to get to the other side for senior wall?

Doesn't lend itself to typing. There is info on Mtn Project and Rock Climbing dot com it appears, check em out. MP has some route info and images too.

If high clearance yes go past 2nd gate (3rd gate is locked). if low slung, don't go past first gate, and of course don't block the road.

I'll be helpful.

That's the road map to it, hopefully you can figure out how to get there, if not, you're f*#ked. You go through 2 property gates, you can do it in a car, but it's much easier in a lifted / higher clearance vehicle.

Personally I've never been to the grotto, because every time i'm there i just end up in the bathroom all day.

But, if you must know. When you drive down that road to that destination, it's strait on the road, past the gate. Follow the obvious trails i'm guessing to the big cliff strait ahead.

Bring some carrots or apples for the horses. Definitely close the gates behind you. Happy climbing!

Check out MP or Climbfind.com for route descriptions and topos. Both sites have mobile apps available too for those without recent guidebooks.
