C'mon, doesn't everyone use quickdraws like that?

The wakeboard and jumar setup at the end is an interesting idea.

That's all shot right here around in the Gorge. The rope jump is off a bridge into the Klickatat River. I never thought anyone who did that bungee jump thing with climbing ropes was any too smart.

Holy sh!t !!!! That was that the anchor, those quick draws?

LOL

Just think if he hit the rocks too on those jumps where he hit the water.

He was cutting pretty close ....

Um... and he couldn't just... tie the rope directly to the bridge? He clearly knows a bowline with a nifty fig-8 backup.

OMG EDIT: I love the nifty knot... clipped to a non-locker...clipped to the harness.

Thanks for the pics. I thought I saw him clip in with a single non-locker. JEEEZus. Then the very close margin for error on the swing. Just a couple of feet to one side and his head is burger on that platform next to the water, not to mention the rocks. Not too bright, that one. Let's hope he continues to get lucky and stops teaching!

Reminds me of the time some friends and I observed an "experienced" climber teaching some buddies how to rappel with a single, non-locking 'biner. After a while, we couldn't take it anymore and went over to offer, as gently as we could, that a locker or two biners with reversed gates would be a better idea. As expected, Mr. Bonehead got offended and blew us off because he "knew what[he]was doing." Tell that to Tom Patey--RIP.

notice how relaxed he was jumping off backwards?

Yeah he was good no doubt.

Did he really tie in without a locker?

Did he really use just those quick draws for the anchor?
