your philosophical question begs the question...
why not?
turns out it was easier to back into that hole to move up, than tackle it head first. weird, but true.

I was looking at this OW on Higher Brother (Eagle Peak) earlier today on Gigapan/ Xrez. I had trolled it here before, but now they have a better photo. You should go bag the FA Rob! http://gigapan.org/gigapans/14729

What I don't get is why people wear JACKETS when they climb a chimney.

This is a "tunnel-thru" behind the Black Tower, on Castle Rock Spire, in order to get to the crux pitch.
Uhhh.....jacket use in a chimney?? Me?......cause it was getting cold. Then again, I could have used my torso scab to stay warm. Gee scuffy......Brutus wore his jacket through this section. Gonna knock the Wyde Man for his use of a jacket too?

Looks a little like the tunnel-through on Ghostrider in the Whitney Portal, only the rock looks more solid... Anyone have pics of that?
Also, way to git after it...

I wasn't knocking you, Mooch.
I said I didn't get something, you explained it.
Most people I see in chimneys or wide cracks are both overdressed and
overheated, thus my comment.
Mungeclimber, I don't know what thread you mean. Russ recently posted a
picture of that Eagle Peak crack and asked about it, but I don't think he
mentioned Eagle Peak or Higher Brother, something about descending from
El Cap?

The photo above is way right of El Cap in the GigaPan.
Based on near by tree's I'd guess its more of a chimney than a true O/W
Gotta be over a foot wide at the top...
Looks cool though. I wonder how long it would take one to get there.
