In the days of "true dirtbagging" a wonderful place right in Ponderosa to avoid tent camping. The Mountain Top Bed and Breakfast. Wonderful staff, fun, great food, a spa for post hike and climbing day, and don't forget wine and cheese hour. It is a little posh, but prices are no diffreent then staying neat the beach (prob cheaper) and nothing like hot showers, spa, and coffee waiting for you in the morning. Also a cabin is avail that sleeps 4 or 5 without breakfast for the same price... so really cheaper then most pay sites. Just a heads up for everyone, camp if need to or stay here. Just made my recent trip so much better! Alive and John are great hosts and are great to talk with!

price really isnt that bad for what it is... it was so nice not to be camping this time at the needles... it was busy last weekend.

But it has to be compared with "Margie's place" (the lookout tower on Magician), as a mountaintop bivvy! :-)

Clint she was a little jealous of the spa! And Magie agrees that Alvie and John are great people and the Mountain Top is a great place to stay if you are tired of sleeping in the dirt!

I had access to a friend's house back on Snowflake for 10+ years. Too bad they sold it last fall. We spent many New Year's up there as well as summer journeys. What a great spot!
