A walk

You don't have to go very far to find places you haven't ever been and gaze on a place that had been only imagination. And though the landscape can be stark on starting out
when your eyes start to see again
the labored gait up, the slowness of it reveals new life all around in what, from afar, looks wasted.
And even in death there is a majesty to it, as life cycles back.
In what is our understanding of eternity, sentinels watch over changes imperceptible to us, with patience that exceeds the time of our species
though some cosmic coincidence brings us together in the now, we touch and play, alone, with the sun and the wind
amazed by the signs of what had happened before us
and by the scene familiar, yet far away, and different than anything we had viewed before
to sit quietly there in connection with it all.
Descending back,
always with the intent to return.

Very nice Ed. Hope and I gazed over those vistas many times as we drove back and forth the week we were there.

Ed, that was awesome. Thanks for posting that up.
I haven't seen a rubber boa in years - the last one was actually in the middle of a forest fire north of Reno - we relocated it out of the burn area.
Really deep TR, and the pictures really brought it together....I appreciate you sharing your views with us.

A simple walk can do great things for the spirit. Thanks for sharing this and reminding the reader to take time to see and experience. In our everyday lives we are so good at tuning-out or ignoring things. This TR reveals beauty and life in the midst of ruin. The great circle keeps turning. Thanks Ed!

I just read Ed's link on rubber boas.They're quite a gentle and interesting snake and never strike at people. Secretive also. It's unusual to see one on the surface like that.
I guess this one managed to survive the fire by being far underground. Good find, Ed.

That rubber boa looks HUGE! I've seen many small (6-12 inch) ones at Shuteye but never a big one - neat :)
Also I've only seen them at night. Nice find!
