Saw them last night and we were about 50' from the stage.
Paid 6.50 to see them in Germany in '81.

There seems to be a whole Rush revival thing happening here, which even allowing for CanCon, is a bit surprising. But then, I'm surprised by the interested people here have for Rush, Neil Peart, etc.

just coincidentally, I'm currently reading Neil Peart's "Ghost Rider", which chronicles his motorcycling through Western North America after the deaths of his daughter and wife. [It's OK/not bad/not terribly enlightening; I'll reserve full judgment until I read it all]

was really into the band in my mid teens. I think there's a high correlation between being a rush fan and a male virgin. Supporting anecdote: I lost my virginity shortly after my musical tastes graduated from Rush (and prog rock more generally) to 1960s-era jazz.

I still like the band with caveats: as far as I can tell, the band plays its songs pretty much exactly how it appeared on the album, including solos. That's dull to the point of lameness. Would go so far as to call it whitebread.

but their riffs can't be denied. Off the couch they could own any county fair battle of the bands.

edit: I wore the vinyl off "Fly By Night", "2112", and (of course) "Moving Pictures".

Rush kick's ass. Best thing that Canada ever did.

And yeah, what Neil went through is nothing short of hell on earth. Both deaths occurred in relatively short time-spans. He has turned into a different man, understandably.

Raises hand... I take a lot of sh#t from friends, but I have always been a staunch RUSH fan (aka a 'RUSH Geek'). Play many of their songs, and own all of their sheet music through Power Windows. Besides the outstanding music that comes from A, G, and N, I am truely amazed by most of Neil's lyrics... Especially Cygnus X-1 Books 1 & 2, from A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres respectively... It's Nietzsche to music, just like 2112 is Ayn Rand (Anthem) to music, or Xanadu is a Samuel Coleridge poem to music, or [the list goes on]...

Anybody read Ghost Rider: Travels On the Healing Road?

Yeah, Alex Lifeson wasn't a flashy guitarist, but he could roll. And he loved the C chord!

"Respect the Classics, Man..." Filmore from the movie Cars.

I made my wife lisen to Rush on our first date 12 years ago...AND SHE STILL MARRIED ME!!!! LOL

That being said, if you live in past, U R HISTORY! Time to move on folks, there's plenty of great MODERN bands I'd rather imbibe than regurgitate this dusty 'ol stuff...
