I like O'Reilly and watch him whenever I can. When I run into people that rant about him, usually they've never watched the program. His critics harp on a couple of incidents where he lost his temper and made it sound as though he constantly does it. Nonsense. I've seen it happen twice: once during an interview with a piece of scum from Nambla who's behavior was so repugnant that O'Reily should have beat him to death with his chair; and ,another time, a radical leftwing nut started ragging on the troops in Iraq in a disgusting manner.
O'Reilly goes after both sides and puts forth information that is held back by other media. He also makes a point of having spokesmen/women from both sides of an issue in debate. Further, and most important, he keeps guests on topic and doesn't allow evasion. All of the above is why he has a varied audience that continues to grow. He is, now, the most influential commentator on television and takes heat from both sides.

Engaging in political debates on StuporTopo is pointless. No matter what I say most folks here won't change their opinions on anything unless they first get it cleared with O'Reilly, Hannitty, Limbaugh, Daddy, or Bush. And even if I did manage to sway someone here, what a big f*#king deal that would be (as I roll my eye) woo-hoo! I got a right-wing on-line jack-off to admit that BushO'ReillyHannityCoulterMalkinLimbaughCheney is a worthless sack of sh#t, what a glorious victory!

But if you want to know why I dislike O'Reilly and all he stands for you can start here. If not, well have a nice day anyway, and thanks for all the fish.

He's not really all that bad. Just boring. The idea that this mushmouth is held up as some sort of Royko-ian pundit shows how low our standards are, these days.

Give me G Gordon, or HST, any day.

I think the real question is what's Bill O'Reilly's problem with loofahs.

And how they factor into his phone sex calls with his assistant.

I find Bill O'Reillys show very entertaining personally.

On a different note, when O'Reilly was on David Letterman, Letterman nailed him hard a few good times... Made me tense right through the TV screen...

"O'Reilly goes after both sides and puts forth information that is held back by other media."

I hope to god this is a troll because I've watched plenty of O'Reilley and you'd have to believe in the Tooth Fairy to believe he's truly an independant 'moderate.'

Dingus,

Watch the “debate” between O’Reilly and Krugman that occurred a while back and you’ll understand why I personally don’t like him.

In that debate, he was just interested bullying and grandstanding, and obviously did not care about the facts. As far as I know, facts are something about which he cares little.

He also cut Jeremy Glick’s microphone during that interview, just because he did not agree with Glick’s book or stance.

In addition, the fictitious “war against Christianity” he continues to mumble, whine and cry about.

To be honest, I don’t dislike him any more than I dislike all the other pundits – he’s a blowhard and full of bullshit just like all the others.

He's disingenuous. While claiming impartiallity he maintains agyroscopic lean towards the right. I have more respect for Rush Limbaugh, who is an outright republican shill (and an ass) but freely admits it (the shill part, not the ass).

If an 'interview' doesn't go his way he edits the program to make it look like he has the upper hand. He brings people like Anne Coulter on and presents them as if she was a sane person who wasn't just making things up as she was going along. He takes old footage and pretends it was new and he misrepresents other people's comments when it suits his agenda.

There are plenty of authors who have dissected the abusrdity of O'reilley but the most entertaining is certainly Al Franken's "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them." If you want a thorough and comical breakdown of O'Reilley's patterns of bullying and deceit, give that a spin.

I was always suspicious of cheerleaders in high school too. Too gung ho for me. Hannity, Limbaugh, and so on, all cut from the same cloth. By the way, I put Al Franken, Jeanine Garofalo, and everyone in MoveOn.org in the same category, but on the other side of the spectrum. I just have a hard time with people who always line up on the same side of an issue, and bash the other side. I think the country is getting sick of it too.

He's also another classic rightwing hypocrite on the "values" front given his dealings with women...

I agree for the most part. Franken's radio program drives me insane but his books have been pretty good. They can be hyperbolic at points, but their entertainment factor makes up for it...you just have to weed through some of the hype. The basic facts stand though, and those can be quite ghastly.
