Once again, great big thanks to all who participated in this wonderful show of heart, terrific community support & awesome vibe!

Doug Nidever, Amie, Tobin Nidever:

I'd like to sell off a few more items here on Supertopo, all funds to Flanders/Doug Nidever.

Hopefully this will allow those of you who missed the event to kick in something and in return get a signed Yabo poster or perhaps acquire some of the other items yet to be sold.

I'll also do a trip report, in installments to help bump the thread: you know the drill!

The posters are $20 and price includes shipping.
This batch has been signed by the poster’s author Dean Fidelman, and by Lynn Hill, Rick Accomazzo, Jim Bridwell, Kevin Worrall, and Randy Vogel.

Pictures and prices for the extras will be along shortly, might take till next week; essentially a handful of guide books, a couple chalk bags, a couple T-shirts, a few TriCams. Stay tuned !!!

This thread brought to you care of Celebrex®, heh
Photos chopped and cropped by GoatBoy, yay!

If you want a poster, let me know here, then write a check for $20, paid to the order of: acct # 3720028580.
In the memo line write: Doug Nidever benefit.

Mail your check to: Roy McClenahan, PO 463, Nederland Colorado, 80466
Include a note indicating an address where you want the poster sent and I will mail it out USPS.

Quantities are limited, but I'm guessing I have enough to meet the demand; we'll see.

Same payment routine for the other items,
This is not an auction but fixed-price, so these items go to whomever speaks up first, pending my receipt of your check.

again, pictures of the other items and prices will be along shortly.

THE TRIPP REPORT

The Prelude.

Prior to this party and fundraiser, I was getting kind of cranky and demoralized. The usual problems with computering you see: repetitive strain and arm jive of course, but beyond that I needed to get an orthopedic work-up for feet knees and hips.

Everything had sort of fallen apart in my lower locomotive chain around January third and I was having trouble getting around without that kind of pain which whispers oh so gently: “sit the fukkk down for all while dumsh#t!!!.

So I was thinking about not going.

Then in the final days of prep, I got that thing deep in my esophagus where it hurts when I talk! Shoot, this meant no voice-activated software for e-mails, consequently I had to revert to typing out my e-mails for final coordination and preparation, which is just plain bad for me.

Now I was really quite a mess … pouting and stuff like that.
But I figured it was a sign!!!
Gauntlet down: with that many stoopid things going wrong it became clear I should just to get out of the house and go anyway.
Saddle up!

Plus, one of the last phone calls I ventured was with Doug Nidever: this confirmed that he would be there for sure. But I likely wasn't going to be able to talk at all during the party. And so …

The Gang of Four

Enter the gang of four. I intuited that I would need a hand selected support group, not that any of you wouldn't and haven't been there for me in the past, but this was a specially derived team designed to surround a scatter brain Tarbuster with the requisite skills and supplies required to get him point A to point B … and in proper form.

At the top of the list was Peter Haan: we had a score to settle! After years of tag teaming and co-conspiring to bring down this house of cards known as supertopo … utilizing zany pictures and sophomoric humor as our only weapons, we'd never actually met.

Furthermore, Peter would be my moral imperator, literary guardian, and personal fashion czar. (Not that he actually approved that garish cowboy shirt which I turned out in, as it happens he was only apprised … the shirt was in fact lovingly donated to the cause by Spencer Lennard).

Second was Doug Robinson: you see, following our successful conquest of the Third Flatiron, Douglas and I had become nearly inseparable as partners on the stone, in that vein that partners become inseparable in the roping up once or twice a year come hell or high water kind of way.

Last but not least was the charming Helga. She'd been an itinerant Tuolumne/Yosemite/Joshua Tree climbing partner of mine back around the time Doug Nidever and I were guiding a whole bunch in the late 80s. We’d kept in touch through the years, helped by the fact that she lives more or less around the block from Lisa's dad.

Helga’s charge was to pick me up at the airport. Just prior to my departure, I had been pestering Lisa with my notepad, writing out last-minute phone calls for her to make on my behalf, as I couldn't speak or do any texting or what have you. Several of those calls were to Helga for picking up last-minute supplies in-country, stuff I couldn't carry on the plane.

For instance: first call: “he needs organic aloe vera juice for his throat" … second call: "screws and a screw gun to attach signs to direct people to the party at Todd's" … third call: nail clippers … oh shoot, I’m sorry, he's a lot of work darnit’, high maintenance if you know what I mean … thanks for watching over him … I'll send you a check !!! ”.

My life. My cross to bear …

The gang of four: profiles.

Peter Haan

Moral imperator, literary guardian, team fashion czar.
His drink: aperitifs, cordials, convivials, various delicate liqueur.

Doug Robinson

Bearer of the rack and numerous rope wrangling duties.
His drink: ice is nice, with single malt scotch poured over!

Helga

Tar’s personal handler (like they do in boxing) … plus darn good lip reader, selected & briefed by Lisa.
 Her drink: aromatic green tea

Tarbuster

The fussy instigator of the Flanders Fundraiser portion of the Josh Spring Party.
His drink: dark homebrew, darker red wine, anejo tequila… heck, anything really … and keep it coming!

Tar’s Che Guevara belt buckle

 Gang icon
Patron saint of this commie operation
Being a bowline on the coil tie-in guy, essential to keep pants on Tar’s bony asss

My Gat

 A 3 x 4 inch composition book
Alternative to the Marcel Marceau routine
Last resort when miming, lip reading, and charades failed … which was quite often.
(i.e. … Anything other than: "how are you", "tell me more", "I need a drink")

Awesome!
Leslie Dittli figured it out.

Remember that trip we took to Joshua Tree from Tamarack a zillion years ago?
Man I haven't seen you since then.

Love your sense of humor.
Very cool.

I have $80 on the way for 3 posters Roy. No - this is not fuzzy math, Government accounting or a drinking binge. Just a tad extra. 3 is all I want. The extra $ goes in the kitty, check is in the mail.

Huge importance to acknowledging the potential of such an event:
We MUST give great props to Andrea and Todd's kids for clearing the path !!!
