James is an incredible climber, but also an incredible teacher. He's so patient and encouraging. Now that he's retired he could be a guide. But he'd rather just go out climbing with people he meets solely to share his love of climbing.

Thanks for sharing it with me!

I applaud the thread, and I applaud James. He's a real friend.

Unfortunately on this site, if you're not one of the very special people, with highly over inflated opinions of themselves, and you don't have throngs of wannabe's willing to suck your c*#k, these "appreciation" threads tend to go nowhere. Especially when they should!

This one would be a prime example of a stellar human being who isn't part of the old "hip" crowd. It's too bad really.

If we are lucky, LEB will chime in to inform us all of how enlightened she is and where we are all at fault.

Yay for James! A couple years ago I met him when he answered one of my posts for partners while I was visiting Joshua Tree. Though he can climb way harder than me, he took me out on things I could do and acted like he was having the best day out there.

Once we went out to the Wonderlands and as I set down my pack I was like...OH CRAP! I had left my harness in the back of my car. James goes "MNo problem, I can use some webbing, and he whipped out an old red length of 1 inch, tied a swami, and was good to go, while he let me use his own harness.

I would like to say thanks to everyone for all the kind words. I like to fly low on the radar so this thread was quite a surprise when I saw it, thanks Eric I guess ??

The axe photo and DMT's reply kinda head the nail on the head, I was a lucky person to have a career in the fire service. The brotherhood and helping out others give me a great sense of pride.

Yes I am a climber and have been doing it for quite awhile, and I have always tried to make sure I am having fun when I am out climbing. Lets go climbing and have more fun !!!!!

I've just recently gotten the privilege of climbing with James, and I already appreciate his patience and enthusiasm while climbing. He's a blast to hang out and chat with, as well (Octoberfest at Indian Wells, VIP style!).

Thanks so much, James, and here's to many more days on the rock! Gotta start building my rack!
