Damn, hate to see this. Hope it ends well for the parties involved.

I imagine that these guys were carrying a SPOT or other PLB? There is definitely no cell service out that way, nor is it probable that anyone skied out to the resort to make the call for help.

Good luck to the SAR team- stay safe. Hopefully everything cools off enough to stabilize- but then you got ice.

Fortunately- you Mono guys have some great skiers. If it can be done, you guys can do it.

I'm just a fussy old worry wort- ignore me. Get down safe.

Sounds like a job for NAS Fallon. Hope they get it all set up for an evac at dawn. Hoping for the very best for the victim, family, and the on-scene team.

I'm so shocked and saddened to hear this news... we had skied Matterhorn on Sunday and I think we crossed paths with this family on the trail on our way out Sunday afternoon. We chatted for a few minutes about conditions up high, the father was so enthusiastic and full of spirit... seemed like a really nice guy. It's hard for me to fathom this outcome. Deepest sorrow, my condolences to the family.
