While I was going through all my gear today getting ready to hit the road I came across a couple of my older pairs of Kauks, and a couple pairs of my new ones.
To bad Sportiva isn't still making them. Though at my current rate of consumption I've got at least 10 years before I run out.
I've always thought the blue ones were better than the brown. Is that just me?

No The blue ones were better.
I have a pair of brown ones that had about 5 or so resoles. I had Tony at the Rubber Room do a re-rand that returned them to like new.
I just did the first resole post re-rand and noticed that the stitching is starting to rot. I figure I'll get at the most two more years out of them.
There won't be anything like them once there gone.
The confidence those things inspire is good for at least a number grade or two.

Aaakkkkkkk!!! Mikey, you are KILLING me!!! Great collection and neat photo series! That’s cool.
I like my blue pair too, but I need more. Time to start looking…
They work great with C4 on ‘em. Best shoes ever.

Be very careful about having them resoled - I sent a pair to Yosemite Bum and they did them in with a straight, flat heel wrap of rubber which completely destroyed the architecture of the heel and slashed a full size off the shoes. I'll post up some photos later...

I've got a blue pair and have had them resoled once (Rubber Room, thank you very much!). I didn't use them so much early on, but they have really been growing on me lately. I used to be able to lace them up more, but my foot must be growing (or getting fat!) since there no way I can even get the laces through the upper aglets anymore.

They're probably older than you are Mikey. Will you be in the Creek for Dash Days?

Sad to say I totally missed out on these. I was always a Boreal guy during that period. Except for a pair of purple Mariachers someone gave me I never got close to a pair of Kauks or any La Sportiva kicks.

IMHO, the blue ones are the best.
No photos right now, I'll have to get back to you on that.

I have a pair of blues that I always really liked.Recently tried them on,out, and the rubber seemed to have gotten slick.Like slippery. The shoes are twenty years old or something so anything could have happened.I'd like to get a good quality resole on them, and some really good rubber.I normally just toss shoes when they wear out,can someone recommend a resoler and what kind of material to ask for? Locker could you do them?

Blues with C4 by Wilson's Eastside were a personal favourite.
I'm back to an old pair of Ballet Golds.
Pretty much assures my place as an irrelevant anachronism.

I'll show you my Kaukulators... As soon as I get back to the armbar ranch.
The problem is, as always happens, progress has been made. I have hoarded these shoes, but now with TC's and Buturas, there is no longer a need, as they are obsolete.

the OP is nearly 8 years old, and since that time the options for this sort of shoe have grown, as well as interest in the type of climbing the shoe is good at.
A board lasted shoe excels at edging, and in cracks, and the high top Kaukulator treats your ankles kindly when learning the wyde-crack craft.
My last pair of usable Kaukulators:
expertly revived by Barry, are probably my last.
I'm mostly using TC-Pros, a shoe I love to hate, if not only for the fact that I should get them resoled with C-4 Stealth as the Sportiva rubber tends to be slicker. Maybe the topic for some other thread.
I don't actually know the difference between the brown and the blue versions, I've had both, aside from the coolness factor of wearing blue suede shoes, "you can do anything but stay off of my..."
