Three or four years ago I was in Zion and was checking out the cliffs when I saw a condor, I had bino's and thought they were vultures, but when I saw the white patches on the wings, its like,,,
Thats a condor,, there is really nothing else it can be..
I didn't know at the time that the condors had already been in Zion for awhile.

Yeah it's a furball...I TOLD you I was a cat!

I saw one once up along the Big Sur coast. I thought, "Dang...that's a well-fed vulture!"
And then I realized that dude was waaaaaaaaay further away than I initially thought...and then saw the white feathers...almost drove off the road in all the excitement.

Yeah, Kudos to Vicki (she spells it with an "i")
I think I'll go downstairs and kiss her good night. Then snuggle into bed with her. It is, after all a pretty fun video.

Sweet! Pinnacles has a great program going, many thanks to those who make it happen.
Brad- that video rocks, tell Vicki thank you for the time and effort (both trekking up there, and for capturing the moment none of us will forget!)
Those birds were so close you could see the color of their eyes.

Wonderful news! And here, I used to watch the turkey vultures with fascination!
Are there any raptor closures in effect now in the High Peaks? I'm planning on climbing there in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers to #349, and of course female 317 and male 318!

raptor closures are in effect in the high peaks. check the Friends of Pinnacles web site for exact details. this time of year, most of Bear Gulch and Marmot dome is open on the east side. the Flumes and base routes on Machete on the west. High Peaks generally closed. Neglected valley may open soon if there is no raptor activity.
