The boy has no shortage of vocabulary!

At the end I posted the cover shot since it is sorta cool.

The first photo is just the left side of the second photo.

Damn! That took a while to scan!

Chuck Clance and Troy Johnson did the 3rd ascent, Takeda made mention of a 100+ foot fall on the previous ascent. In Reality it was a 70 footer after a short blade ripped in half and spit clance for the big ride.

Good stories never written about their ascent.

I have the blade.....must have been terrifying to watch knowing your gonna rip a string of #1's and 2's!

Good read

It was a good read. But could have been a couple of pages longer.
More Drama.

That is one of my all time favorite climbing articles. The Other was one he did on SUNKIST. He was in a real groove then. I remember the one on the Porcelain Wall with Eric Khol. The guy was my hero back in college. Even talked to him on the phone once for a college term-paper "interview." I probably babbled like a schoolgirl. Thanks for the post.

brotherbbock... I do, when it is not RAINING and COLD!

Spring/summer are my months for play. Right now, it's all business planning and fun scanning.

I stand corrected. I forget that not everyone lives here in So-cal with the smog and sun.

This was the first issue of climbing magazine I ever bought and it, especially that article, was a huge inspiration for me.

At any rate, someone once told me there's a good story about Pete and his first time up the Kor Roof. Anybody got the 411 on that?

I remember that Sunkist article. That could have been the first climbing magazine I bought, I'm not sure. It would have been in the early nineties.

Pinning a splitter high on the captain, I had no idea how rare that is until way later in my climbing career.
